To my CenTex FAMILY:

As we slog through the current challenge, trying to make better choices, fighting laziness, fending off sugar cravings, we all begin to ask why?

Why is it so hard to change, why do I want to do this, who cares if I do, how long will I be able to keep on this track ?  Do we really enjoy being sore and beat up more often than not ?

We all need to find our own answers:  Is it that we want others to look at us differently ?  Is this just some vain attempt to stay young ?

I have to admit the reasons above creep into my "motivation".  But, there has to be more.  If not, we are building our fitness foundations on shaky footings.

So what drives you ?  While the answers may sound cliche or cheeky, if they are indeed the honest root of your motivation then share.  Do not just share, but embed them into your brain as the fuel to help push when you feel like giving in.

Truth be told, I like my friends here at the "box".  I like being around everyone of you.  I like the positive energy you share.  I like having others to play with and compete against.  I like that I can dislike you at any given time, but still be your friend, just like family.  I like that I miss all those who have moved on.  I also like having you all admire my efforts when I crush a workout.  I even like that I am secretly driven to do more when you guys stomp me in a WOD.  I like that you help each other when things get rough inside and outside of the "box".  I like that every CrossFitter I have had the pleasure of meeting, greets me as a part of the "clan".

Yes, an ulterior motive is to fend off sickness and disease.  But, in the end it is indeed fear of disease, vanity, courage, pride, competition, being a steward of the body God gifted me with, and quite honestly: the desire to have friends like all of you.

So, when we are in the middle of a challenge and things get tough, I will do my best to NOT let you guys down.

What motivates you ?  Why are you doing this challenge ?  Great, now remember THAT.
